Look Who’s Back?

Well, since the pond assault 1 series will be delayed until this coming Saturdays trip, I guess I’ll just update my blog on the recent trip to Tow Foo (yes… again…)
Got a surprising call from someone long lost to our Malaysian fishing spots – our friend Shuan. We were already in the midst of planning for the pond assault series 1, but somehow someone managed to call me just the day before the “action” begins.

Since our friend cannot make it for the pond assault 1 (Sg Buluh), I guess I’ll just go for another day of fishing (what a way to buka puasa!). So like our usual routine, we went on our almost religious act of waking up and driving to the Old Town market about 6am in the morning. (oh yah, Adrian came along this time too!). So after our kuay teow soup, we headed out too tow foo with our Gardenia bread and chicken intestine (never did test this before).

The trip there was smooth as ever, kinda miss driving through the winding roads of Kundang… its been a long time….So here we are arriving at tow foo about 7.30am? yeah, should be almost right…. The first thing I noticed is that they cleared the far end side of the pond, making it now accessible to anglers to the deep end (where the monsters were). I was thinking to myself then “yes! No need to pay for boat, and can use a sink bait with a standing road and casting at the same time”. But something told me it aint gonna be as easy as I thought. The parking slots also seemed to be smaller than I remembered it….

So…. We had 3 lines out in the bottom, loaded with Gardenia bread, chicken intestine & hong all on bottom while we try out spoon, grubs and lures on the nearby edge. The place was already having a lot of people compared to last time. Lets just say the action was really really slow compared to the amount of people that finally settled in by 10am.

Shuan and I decided to “explore” the new pond ah Wong dug up behind the main pond. Well… the first few cast yielded a couple of cigar sized haruans.. cheap trills on ultralights, but I guess our gears were just too heavy for these juveniles. As usual our friend shuan would hook up the haruans and almost blinding them almost everytime… Shuan, u got gift or should I say curse la… hehe.. pity the little fishies…. :P

Now after about 10 to 15 landings, we decided to move on to the “Rohu” pond to try something different, maybe another fluke shot a patin to pull out the line? Well, it didn’t turn out to be so, but I did landed another Haruan on the first cast on my spoon :) Nothing much after that except for the never ending tilapia…cheap trills.

So it was about to be noon, and we decided to pack up and have our lunch, preparing to go home – sky looking very very dark. All I could say was we left tow foo right on time, but was caught in the major flooding all the way from Kundang till I reach back home! Gasp!!!! Time to change to 4WD la… almost stalled the car a couple of times….

Nibble nibble, taut taut, STRIKE! Fish On!!!
