man oh man.... the more i read the papers these days the more "cartoonish" i feel our gov has become. Now read the headlines for The "sing sing" on 11th Dec 08 - it reads "Street dancing contest to go on" (you can click on the title to view the actual story) - now nothing wrong with the title right? yeah... now here's the phrase that woke me up from my usual slumber.. "Muslim male and female participants are not allowed to mingle with each other".
Umm... ok... but read on, it gets better!
"the event is a healthy pastime to combat social ills"
"the event was held at a public place and under the supervision of teachers, parents and dance instructors."
so the thing that got to me was, why the ban on male and female from mingling amongst each other? you mean even the teacher, supervisors, parents, everyone with different gender can't mingle with each other? and especially the "teenagers" - oh no no... that would be so wrong for them to mingle with each other now would it? we can't have that.. oh no no...
lets see.... event is to have healthy pass time and have a good time... but the catch is:
1) you cannot mingle with the other sex (if you're IC states you're a Muslim)
2) you cannot go close / touch each other when u dance with other sex (ok.. i don't know what type of dancing has no touching anyways)
3) street dancing, open competition, you see other sex's coming your way, turn the other direction and walk away (um.. wait... you'll most likely be in a crowd surrounded by other sex's anyways, so don't bother going)
4) you have to identify yourself as muslim male/female to everyone (else how to identify each and everyone in a crowd of a few thousand?)
now who wouldn't want to live in such entertaining country? :D
