Our final fishing trip before leaving Malaysia

well... this post will be dedicated to one of me best friends before leaving Malaysia. We have been visiting this pond (Towfoo Sports Fishing Pond) since last year.. but been quite constant since last August..So here a small report on our fishing trip on the 15th April 06.

5.30 am:
The day started off quiet awkwardly as my alarm clock decided to take a nap along with me! luckily for shuan, his SMS woke me up!

6.30 am:
breakfast around old town market area - tungku kai kiok mee + milo ice and teh tarik! yummers!

7.30 am:
our arrival at the fishing place! was kinda shocked to see all the changes that happened there! new boat house! new "lodging" room next to the poop pond, new jaga, and alot of new malay guys getting used to using Baitcasters!!!! (i still remember the constant "birdness" everytime they cast out their lures! was hoping they'll get fedup of it and sell their Abu reels to me!! :P)

8:00 am:
spend almost the whole morning trying to look for easy catch (Haruans & peacock bass ala cheap trills)to boost our ego, but to no avail... no thanks to the over fishing from the other anglers targetting these fishes as well. nothing seems to work, no fish landed, only nibbles... got fed up and suggested to move to even easier targets! Rohu pond here we come!!!

11:00 am:
still no takers from rohu!! dang!! having bad feeling liau... so moved our vision to the lowest of the low fishing... tilapia!! GOD!!! didn't think we would stoop to that low... but heck! its one cast one fish! albeit the size la.. :P but on ultralight gear & close to no drag it was fun :D

11:30 am:
MIRACLE happened!!!The pond that we never catched anything before bore fruit!! Shuans rod and reel almost shot into the pond thanks to the powerful pull from the other end!! and where was our fren? somewhere far far away chasing after Rohus!(and he did catch one and was landing that one while this rod strucked!) See shuan? u owe me one for saving ur rod! :P after some cranking and pumping shuans opponent was landed after 15 minutes of toiling about!

12.00 pm:
After some chit chat with me fathers friends (turned out to be the ones that Ah Wong and Albert been complaining about!!!) we hit out towards the 20,000 Pacu pond to hunt for Tomans equip with our live baits! (ala tilapia)

12.30 pm:
live bait still alive after 7 minutes out of water!!!! (ur right shuan, i shall not doubt thee again!) live bait rigged with a float (bait 2ft below float)

12.45 pm:
while shuan was busy on the phone, i took his rod, loaded up with his Mega sized lure (can even catch a Baracuda with that!) started casting at a group of fries!! Man! talking about over doing it! under the 40 degree scorching sun and just as shuan ending his call, sweet sound of bells rang.. it was coming from my rod!! (u know those small little bells u put on rods to warn u of fish strikes? yeah THAT one)then with the free spool, me took own sweet time taking off the bell and untying my rod (learnt my lesson from shuans rod! :P).
With the float gone, and a big swirl under it, i locked my TGC4600 reel, let the line tighten and STRIKE!! YES!! a confirm HIT! and thumbing the spool, i struck again! and this time a confirm HIT! (Toman known for its hard mouth, need hard strikes to make sure the hook is in! so no more mistakes like tha last fishing trip) after about 10 minutes of constant runs, we we're surprised to see whats on the other end! a Haruan!! (caught on a palms size tilapia!!) - line peeling out, reel screaming, rods bent with a nice curve... man.. sounds corny! :P it was landed, round of pics and released back to fight another day :D

1.30 pm:
having finished with our lunch and saying good byes to Adrian, we left for out MPPJ all round fishing tour.. but things were not working out for us as it rained heavily.. only manage to do a few casting sessions at Taman Aman with no takers..

5.00 pm:
called it a day... was feeling kinda sad with me best friend & fishing kaki leaving - but am happy cause he would be leaving for better pasture...

Well, shuan dude! best wishes for all your future undertakings and don't be a stranger ya..

nibble nibble, taut taut, STRIKE!, Fish ON!
