Another day for the guide

Well, its just been a week last I’ve been fishing in tow foo with new fishos. I think I’m fast gaining reputation as a guide for newbies to tow foo. Lamby is back and I guess hey! It’s a change to have an experienced fisho with me this time around.

So as usual the plan was to arrive there at 7 (just at dawn) and we’ve decided to take the boat out (who cares being burnt out in the open? We’re fishos ma) and this time we didn’t give anything to chance – “superbaits” we’re bought along… ice-box filled and big pail filled with tools and baits we’re out in the pond about 7.30 and ready to have fun.

The start was slow, with only nibbles for close to about an hour (rowing out and setting up the rods – at the same time trying to avoid all the far casting anglers from the pond edge.)

We had about 3 lines out on bottom fishing and one on casting. We didn’t have to wait long for our first strike. A firm hook-up on Lamby’s rod using a circular hook and the fight lasted for about 45 minutes! (what would you expect using a Tica Cetus SS500 and a light rod?).Pacu of about 10kg was landed!(same size as those we caught earlier in the “superbait” thread).

The second time around was the most exciting fishing experience I had on a boat in tow foo. I’ve just landed a small Pak Sou Kong when Lamby’s rod decided to take a dive into the pond. Luckily for him, he managed to grab hold of the rod when it was already half submerged in the pond shooting off like a bat out of hell! (man! How lucky can u get?). Another 50 minutes later and the pacu was landed. Again it was another 9kg specimen. I didn’t have to wait long after that for my reel to start screaming. The fight didn’t last long though (about 5 minutes or so, enough time for me to just hold the rod and take picture for mr. Lamby and his 9kg fish)as the pacu bit through my mono line. Oh well, I guess this was just not my day (guide ma, must do work not “ular” and start fishing :P)

Not long after my line came back empty, Lamby got hit again with another run. Yeap, u guessed it, another 40 minute fight and his pacu was landed (10kg again). Our fren was complaining non-stop about his hand aching and all the while being “LCLY” towards those guys on the pond edge. By the time we finished out half day on the boat –total landed were 3 mega pacu, 2 Pak Sou Kong and one escaped pacu by yours truly.

Had lunch and after a few fruitless cast at the lure pond we decided to call it a day (too hot man, even for us season guys…).Was wondering myself though who was that uncle that just took my baitcasting setup and proceeded to test cast without my permission, what to do? Me kinda dosed off when he did it, thanks to Lamby it was kept safe I guess.

Nibble nibble, taut taut, STRIKE! Fish ON!
*finally can post photos after 3 monhts!
