Who need the fireworks competition?

who needs a international fireworks competition when you can have a wonderful display all around you during chinese new year?! The thing is, i'm still rather perplexed on our "Wise" government putting a ban on fireworks in our nation. Their reason being by its for the safety of our nation, children and community (this just happened right after that Sg Buluh fireworks factory explosion & those morons that somehow manage to blow their whole hands up using self-modified rocket launchers).
Now when our government placed the ban on the fireworks, did they even know what is the significance of fireworks to the Chinese people during the Chinese new year? Well… just in case anyone wondering, there are many beliefs about why fireworks are used. One is that the noise wakes up the dragon who will fly across the sky to bring the spring rain for the crops. Another belief is that the noise of the fireworks is supposed to scare away all evil spirits and misfortunes, preventing them from coming into the new year.
I actually pity the children these days…. Gone were the days that every neighbour / neighbourhood will pit against each other buying the longest firecracker usually placed on trees or long poles. And the constant “rockets” and noise makers right up till the wee mornings. So how did the public react to this ban? Well… there comes in the black market fireworks and uncontrolled / unchecked fireworks coming over the borders. Now by doing so, we’re actually bringing in things that might have expired / never been checked for safety guidelines / packaging being checked.

Now here’s what I thought they should have done… spend more time using their brain and resources (and of course stop the corruption when safety checks are made), to beef up the safety issues for those fireworks factory and the education to those morons and their “meriam buluh” and “ “steel launch pads”. At the same time, you’ll be able to stop all this underground fireworks importing and have safer fireworks (not to mention more BUSINESS $$$ for everyone).
Ironically since our nation is having a fireworks “ban”, the fireworks are getting more beautiful and more noisy as the year passes by – not that I’m complaining, I’m actually loving it!
And since our fat ass officials are busy getting their grubby hands on “unclean” money and busy humping their “personal” friends – perhaps they should just wake up and really start working… ain’t this what we the nation voted you for? Well… the election is coming, and I’ve already made up my mind – so here’s to our MALAYSIA BOLEH!
Nibble nibble, taut taut, STRIKE! Fish On!!!
