Missing System Icon

I wonder how are we to survive these days without being connected. For the pass few days, its been kinda irritating that my laptop somehow has the problem of missing system icon (you know, those small little icons that show all the info such as connectivity, battery info, volume etc etc..).

I didn't really pay much attention to it until only for the pass 2 days that my laptop keeps shutting down without warning and i had so much problems with adjusting every single volume for all the applications open (wouldn't want you chatting notification to be as loud as the music your listening for example)

so yeah, here i was with my laptop shutting down automatically for the third time without any warning (yeah, forgot to plug in the charger la...so used to it not charging and depending on the icon warning to remind me about it)

so since i got kinda irritated with this, just with a few types of the keyboard and wahlah! presto! problems solve. so heres how you can do it:
  1. Task bar "properties"
  2. under the Notification Area tab
  3. Select which system icons that you want to always show
mine didn't really solve this way, so i went on to search another method and it appears that there is a more advanced fix for it involving the registry and it worked!

From Samuel’s blog:
  1. Run “regedit” (Registry Editor)
  2. Find “iconstreams”
  3. Delete all registry keys with names “IconStreams” and “PastIconStreams”,click on F3 until “iconstreams” can no longer be found in the registry
  4. Restart Windows Vista
  5. Enable the missing icon using the usual method
so have fun, hope it helps.

Nibble nibble, taut taut, STRIKE! Fish On!!!
