These are some of the fishing lessons / discussions that we fisho’s come by everytime we go on a fishing trip, and since this is conjunction on the movie The Da Vinci Code, I guess this is a better time to bring this issue up. For those that are about to read this please keep an open mind on everything that will be said here – this is not a conclusion to anything, but just an ol’fisho story that has never ended and would never end I guess (so please do not take this article as an attack on any religion or condemnation to anyone, if you are those I may say overly pious or closed minded I urge you not to continue reading and just to just give this article a skip)
So from the previous blog, I have said that there would be a very controversial blog coming soon. Well here it is….
“Why are we placed on earth?” A question that crosses everyone's mind at one point or another, there’s no point denying it. This question would then relate back to the question “Is there God?” From this it will only lead us to another question “What truth is there in Religion?”
Now, Religion in fact IS and only IS man made. Why? Simple really – lets take Christianity: what are Christians – We are those that we may simply put it, those that believe in the teachings of the “authors” in the Bible. (quote: C.S. Lewis). What about Buddhism? To many people, it is a religion that believes in the teaching in Buddha- 'The Awakened One' (a Prince from India – Siddhartha Gautama) – But fact is Buddhism if not a religion, but a way of life and they believed that the creation of the world is eternally cyclical - there is no beginning and no end, only a continual dissolving and reforming of matter and life triggered by spiritual beings who are reborn with each new cycle- and there are many more religion that may fill up this whole blog just mentioning it… So lets not waste more time and just lead on to the discussion during the trip there.
Now the interesting part during this particular journey was the question of “Why are we placed on earth” – From earlier on, almost all religion would have state that this human body we live in are merely just a shell for our spirit & soul. Fact: All human beings Die… This body we live in will have to one day go back to earth. As for atheist, once our body dies that’s the end of it.. or does it? Could it be just too much of a coincidence that we/humans have the intelligence that we have? The power of language, speech, and thought that other animals lack? Why do we have the power of thought for our own mortality & how fragile our own lives. Looking back in history, how many great kings/general/warriors has strive to get the fruit of everlasting life or the secret to immortality? Many have tried and failed, yet one constant still remains, the life we have now, the body we have will one day need to pass on.
One interesting question that my friends and I have constantly asked one time or another, why are we here for? So why did “God” or some would choose the word of “the creator / force” made human to be able to commit Sin? One thing we must remember, we are given free will, choices we make in life will depict how we actually will live out our lives. One should never blame any religion for being “Bad” or “Evil” – remember this, its not the Religion that teaches people to be “Bad”, it is the choices of the people make that are considered “Evil” or “Bad”. All Religion has no teachings of “Evil” (unless we’re talking about sacrificial cults, etc etc… then again, it is still depicted/ thought by? Humans of course) – all religion (as per discuss over and over again) are a form of controlling individuals, family units, how we behave to one another, how we should treat one another and the “righteous” way of living – not once did any religion teaches us to mistreat one another / its good to kill… all religion if we actually study it and analyse it, teaches us to love one another – this includes our enemies. (Again I stress that this must not include those what we called satanic cults, etc etc…).
So now, one very interesting to this discussion is that we are here to “enrich our souls/spirits”, to learn & experience in our very specially designed life He has for us. Returning again to Him once our “experience” has been completed with our more enriched soul. Now wouldn’t that make more sense to “now I exist, then I die no more…all blank, all zero”. He created us in His very image with the freedom of choice between “Evil” and “Good”, now see, even scientifically it has been proven – “For every action, there is an equal and opposite Reaction” – in another way of viewing it, if there are no Evil, there is no way of judging Good, there is no pain, then you would never appreciate pleasure and so on so forth…
I’m not saying you MUST take up a religion nor am I stating that you should NOT, a religion for my very own testimonial is in fact ones calling, and let no one else make that decision for you. One may receive a calling within their teenage years, and some takes it until their grave and still haven’t found their calling. Its nothing you can explain it logically, nor can it be explained via scientifically proven “facts”, its something unexplainable – but when one receives that calling and chooses that path, it should be his own choice and not by any other, and then my friends, This is when you view yourself in a new life, a new born I must say where every possibilities opens up to you again like a small child with everything a new toy and everyday an exciting day to “play & learn”.
So let the small little things like Da Vinci Code goes by (its just a Movie for God’s sake, the more controversial it is, the more money the producers would get from it), let the caricature go, its just cartoons (though almost all religion has its own commandments- thau shall not depict God in any form of drawings / picture /etc..) let it go with the Yoga, Tai Chi, Chi Qong exercise (Yoga in its purest form, is mainly for exercise is for relaxation, strength development and flexibility, however forms of yoga meditation & mind clearing as per quoted by Eknath Easwaran in “passage meditation” – we become what we meditate on – so, on this if one was to meditate on the “word” on one’s religion & ignoring all distraction, it actually helps one to understand & grow more spiritually).
Summary, what is more important? Is what You, Yourself believe in, what is your own calling – religion is not a way out from your problems nor is it for you to conveniently blame on when things goes wrong, the choice is always been yours and yours to choose (do not be influenced by peer pressure or people around you, but follow what your heart and mind tells you to). Do not judge one another (He too did not judge us, but to save us: john 12:47–48), and the most important I learnt through my growing years given down to me by MY Hero… “Do not do on to others what you do not want others to do onto you”. What ever people say, depict, come up with, say, let them be, show them Love, and they will change their way…
So while you are here on earth in this body / vessel of yours, why not take time, enjoy it – take all the time to grow spiritually and take your time to learn the lessons of life, learn from all your mistakes in life, grow spiritually, condemning no one along the path, and judging no one along the way for they will be judge by the One, and not by us who has been put here to learn and grow ourselves, learn to forgive one another, to leave in peace and to Love one another…
Nibble nibble, taut taut, STRIKE!, fish ON!!!
