You would have to forgive me for this next few series, as I wont be typing much due to the freak accident I had this morning making my left thumb look like my left toe! (it was man vs fan blade – and the man lost). So anyways, read on and I hope you’ll enjoy the story telling and photos below…
Now finally, 1 week later and its at yours truly home turf. Wedding preparation all done (with exception to the horrendous error made by that certain furniture stall that I really could have done without) and now finalizing our seating for the wedding place.
We had a makan session at my new condo pool side with all the family and close friends on the day before the wedding. The next morning y heng tais had gathered at my parents place and we left when just about the big “siu chui” came into the house… was preparing my taste buds and tummy for it already…(mmMMMmmm… BAK!!!)
So here we were on the way to my wife’s house in Puchong – and I can say this is the first time I see my friends driving sooOOooo slowly - and we’ve to wait for some of them about 1km away from our destination, but though all we’re still on time and on schedule…
From then on almost everything did not really go to plan (and this is on the Grooms side planning la). Let me explain….
1)we started off by being tortured by the chi mui’s
-task 1: look for messages around the playground (thanks to ah boy, we manage to find it fairly quickly)
-task 2: climb up the staircase to the top floor of the apartment! (and this is not the 7th floor I’m staying now) – this is where I found out we’re not as young as we were… all were huffing and puffing away, leaving me running alone to the top floor… leaving behind my best man and heng tais
-task 3: write some sort of love letter / story using the message
-task 4: remove the key frozen in ice block (without smashing it on the ground / using hammer) – somehow they keep on increasing the rules when we found new ways to smash the ice quicker (so not fair la this chi muis)
- task 5: open door, go in and rest
- task 6: eat some unidentified stuffs (erm.. that’s the only easy thing…)
- task 7: guess the brides stuffs, etc etc…. (and yes, the last book you read is still the bible – so chi muis, better do your homework next time –its always the last book we read every day)
- task 8: have to sing… erm… luckily it didn’t rain :P (not forgetting the ang pow to the chi muis)
- task 9: go to another room cause the first room is a dud… (and some riddles and message passed beneath the door)
-finally: rescue my wife from the evil chi muis
2)drive back to parents home (already late….everyone starving, and can't wait to eat the BAK!!!) – and here are the set backs:
- almost all the heng tais got lost on the way back!
- One car got punctured at the brides place (pity poor Dale – our new CG member)
- and when we got home, my photographers were lost for the next 15 minutes!!! Anyways, we can’t wait any longer due to the delayed time back to my parents home
3)chum cha…..
- was kinda lost without our usual whatchamacallit lady (the one that yell’s out everyones name one? Forgot what she’s called)
- everyone wanted to be the person that has the correct “termed” name for every uncle, aunty, cousin, etc…. ai…… Chinese weddings are just toooooooo messy la… lucky we don’t even know stuff like jumping over fire and dragging the wife around a cloud of smoke…
-and when everything was over… my siu chui was gone!!! ARGH!!!! No one bothered to save the good bits for both my wife and myself… so sad…….. best thing was when I went out in search of my strength BAK, some felt so bad they started to “steal” from other peoples plate and table to give to us – but I wasn’t having any of that (have to put up some brave face and be nice, tell a little ebit of white lie and say… “I don’t like to eat bak, you go ahead”… )
aaAARRGGHHhhHHHh!!!! And many that knows me well will know that I have one saying…”Boh Bak, Boh Lat!”
4)To the hotel…
- on arrival to the hotel, it was raining
- the more elder of the 2 doorman, didn’t even want to bring umbrella for us, but when there is an ang moh, he’ll just beg and bend down over to kiss the ang moh’s shoe and ass (got cheesed on this, and made sure the hotel knew about this) - the younger one that came later was much nicer...
- luckily that day Caryn reminded the hair stylist and make up artist that our wedding was on that day – else die lo…
-CG members (ah boy) did my hair and we’re off!!! To our wedding hall…
5)The dinner…
-almost 2 tables of people did not turned up
-thanks to some inconsiderate people which kept changing their seats to other places other than those already prepare and arranged, we had quite a lot of issues even until after the first meal was serve (so for those who are about to attend the wedding)... PLEASE STAY AT THE SEAT THAT THE COUPLE HAS ALREADY ARRANGED FOR YOU.
- Wonderful speech by one of my best pals (Kin Hon) was spoiled by the constant chattering of the dinner guest (lucky I already have the speech earlier one), followed by my wife’s friends speech
- Then came the defining moment – MY SPEECH…. :) – will tell more on this in the next series (which left alot of people lining up and clamoring over each other telling my dad how touched and proud that they had a nephew/grand nephew / son’s friend etc he had)… erm… don’t worry, I was also blur at that time too, so I wont blame those who are reading this now
6)the morning….
- you wouldn’t believe what happened even if I told you earlier on… the cleaning lady actually opened the door to my room at around 8.30 in the morning!!!! Lucky I had that door hook ledged on! - so newly weds... make sure you ledge the door, barricade it and place the do not disturb sig outside! (though it didnt help)
-Had such a heavy breakfast, didn’t need to eat until dinner! Hehehe…. (didn’t expect it to be such big servings – ox tail soup, fried rice, chicken chop) – I think can feed 5 person easily! And we finished it up… maybe cause we didn’t really eat the night before :)
So hope you enjoyed this “short” series… :)
Nibble nibble, taut taut, STRIKE! Fish On!!!
