Series 4: The Speech….. (episode 1)

Series 4: The Speech….. (episode 1)

Before we go on to my speech… here is Kin Hon’s testimonial (I know everyone didn’t even hear it that night, so read it here before going on to my speech….).

So since many did not gave the respect to my best pal, I’ll make you sit through this before going on to “THE” speech… so read on.. its just a wonderful testimonial, spoilt by the ruckus in the wedding hall…

I’ve known JS for the past 13 years, since the days we where in the same class in high school. I guess we get along well because we’re two of the few who were still wearing our short pants while all the others had already dumped their memory of primary schools by parading their fancy GQ pants.

On a more serious note, we did share the same interests to begin with. We joined the Scouts, where we got to know most of buddies. We did camping, hiking and all the adventurous stuff all around the jungles of Malaysia. Every Saturday on the calendar were booked for the weekly Scouts meeting; running around the school doing all sorts of fun and crazy stuffs. It did show from the beginning JS is a nature lover. I guess that is why he is an avid angler; spending half of any day waiting for a bite on his bait. Then came our Senior years at high school, where we were assigned to different classes. These were the missing years in our long friendship. We got to know different people, experienced different social activities and meet new challenges along the way. We didn’t have much time to chat and talk as we used to. Though, we did get together once a while during school activities and the occasional bump at each other during class breaks or after school hours. It pretty much stayed the same throughout our senior years until after SPM. After that the gap seems to widen a bit more.

JS went to college while I stayed in school for Form 6. Fortunately, the accessibility to our parents car and a bigger monthly allowance during our late teens and early 20’s brought our friendship closer again. We got to hang out during the weekends, went for movies; and the few memorable trips with the whole gang. As we journeyed further to our working years, our friendship took another major turn. Busy working hours coupled with new commitments meant fun days were harder to count on. We tried to make some time to meet up especially during special occasions, and had one of the most memorable trips Down Under when we visited one of our buddies there. All in all, we did share some exciting experiences throughout the past 13 years.

As time goes by, it seems that our friendship had taken a few obstacles along the way as our individual goals have to be put in priority. But as true friend, as people might say, JS is a truly loyal guy who cherishes great friendship and will try to make time for friends in need. Well, it looks like the biggest challenge of our friendship has arrived.

In fact, after tonight, JS will begin a new journey in the next chapter of his life. And it’s a journey for him with someone special in his heart that will go on forever. That special person who is more than a friend. In a way, it is a sad feeling that another fraction of the fellowship is breaking apart. But then again, I (and on behalf of the whole gang, here or faraway) sincerely feel very joyful that we have a friend that has found a soul mate. And it looks like the time JS will have to spend with the gang will be a record low now. But it does not really matter as I know that every single second of his time now will be a precious moment for not just himself, but for . Just hope he will leave a few grains in his hourglass for the occasional mamak/futsal sessions!

seeee?????? sooo niiiccceeeee... hmph..... well.... on to the next episode
