It pays to be paranoid

Now heres something no one would ever believe, even when i tell and show the data i have of my "old" new toy. heres how the story actually went..... i'll put it into point form so it wont take too much time to read up on it:
- D300 was in a shortage beginning 2008, with prices ranging from 5700 to 6400 in KL
- could get cheaper elsewhere other than KL, but may need to wait 2 weeks from order date
- contacts and orders made with party A
- party A price came back exactly the same, so went for party B from up north
- got the camera much cheaper than KL and quite happy with it
- found something wrong with the unit (cap does not match, missing stuffs)
- tested out the shutter count just for the heck of it, cause i was selling my old toy.
- found out the "new" camera was a Secondhand unit! (shop owner called to apologised with excuse that the previous "buyer" lied to him that it has never been used- does he really think that we're a little hollow up in the noggins?)
-actual shutter count = 8700 ++
- waited another week for a "new" new toy to reach and check out the shutter count and confirmed that this time its "NEW"!!!!

sighs..... not that much to complain about, but i'm actually appalled at how low people would stoop to and how ignorant human trust could be (or the shop owner was just trying to find a sucker).

I am however thankful for the fact that i manage to learn something from here is that:
1) i manage to get the unit before my next assignment shoot (though i guess, not many people really appreciate or encourage my "interest")
2) i thank god that i manage to accidentally find out that the "old" new toy was a second hand USED unit
3) its not worth it to save a couple of hundred when you'll have to go through so much trouble raising your blood pressure and also those around you....
4) Don't abandon a good fishing spot when the fishing is slow (it works the same when you wanna switch/try a new shop from your usual "trusted" shop)

so ta ta for now....

Nibble nibble, taut taut, STRIKE! Fish On!!
