star light, star bright,
first star i see tonight,
i wish i may, i wish i might,
my wish be granted tonight.
first star i see tonight,
i wish i may, i wish i might,
my wish be granted tonight.
here is a phrase (or something around that line... can't really remember) that i since long heard from a very beautifully written book / cartoon...Pinocchio :) and how most of us actually live by... we wish, but never act.
From the cartoon, Pinocchio wanted to be a real boy (for his "father" Geppetto), but even with his wish, he never was granted fully to be a boy - and we all know (or those that has seen the cartoon) how much he had to go through before he was eventually turned into a real boy.
I guess its the same as our all our lives, there ain't much use if you only wish /pray for something, but never acted on it. Now wait for it.... i can already hear alot of people murmuring about how i shouldn't say that, well.... yes i agree prayer is a strong thing, BUT one shouldn't be so ignorant till a stage:
"oh, i pray everyday to get a wife/husband ma, can liau.... the rest is up to God"
here's some cruel truth i want to tell you la... God ain't gonna just drop a wife/husband to you on your lap while you stay at home most of the time playing your pathetic video games while you dream that everything has been prepared for you. You have to work for it my friend. Even when God so graciously shows you a women to your door step, you'll still need to work on it my friend. Bringing her out on dates (mamak does not count) and NEVER BE LATE!! are a few things that most of the single man now adays should really learn to buck up on.
or i bet most of us has heard this once or twice before:
"i pray i get a good job, so i don't need to work so hard for it"
erm... i would love to one day get to interview this sad sod. To get a "good" job, you'll still need to study hard to get a proper degree. To get a "good" job you'll still need to attend interviews and getting grilled like normal people (learning along with every interview you go through).
so make sure you learn from Pinocchio and don't just simply wish/pray for something, get off your lazy ass, throw away that piece of computer games and DVD packs, take the bull by the horn and make it work!
Nibble nibble, taut taut, STRIKE! Fish On!!
