My Exile to Kuantan

Since our office is in the midst of reorg, all the 3G engineers are "forced" to go for an OST (on site training) to help bring the OKV engineers up to speed on what is 3G and how to handle the network. I know its a silly idea, how can we cramp 1 years of experience into 1 week? well guess what? our management doesn't really give a damn.

So here i am on the 3rd day of the OST (of course by the time I finish this, it’ll be the last day) hope to type down my experience while in exile. So far, i find that the working life style here to be extremely relaxing. There are virtually NO JAMS!!! it only takes me 15 minutes of relax driving to reach the office (pic below) and the car parks are so cheap!!! RM3.50 a day and you can use it everywhere!!! if only KL is like that....

We've been asking people around office who have been on duty here where to stay (it was between Swiss garden and some hotel in town)- and luckily I decided that we should take the Swiss Garden. The photos below would explain everything!

We were lucky to get the approval to send 2 engineers for the OST, else i think i would go crazy here... Lucky my colleague Seow here (pic below) is something of a makan kaki, so i'm assured of good food for the duration of my stay.

Now let me just explain what happen so far...

Day 1:

Flight delayed by 20 minutes or so, so we arrived around 10.30.
Forgot our contact number to the car rental... damn...
Got the car, 1.5 Wira (brand new)... woohooo!!!
drove straight to the office.... got alittle lost... damn...
found the office and found the parking damn cheap... woohhoooo!!!
our laptops cannot connect to LAN, so can't do work... woohooOoo!! i mean....Damn......
after work, gone to hotel and presently surprised with the accommodations and service.. woohooo!!
called the missus who is home alone, done a video call and the hotel has 3G! wooOOHhooOOo!!!
felt extremely bad and making my missus so sad for leaving her all home alone.. damn.... (tears still stream down this face of mine everytime i think of her while in Kuantan)

Day 2:

Woke up at 5.30 (even though didn't really sleep the whole night), thought can shoot sunrise, but it rained!..... damn.....
Tried to go back to sleep without any success… damn….
Free breakfast and papers!! woOOHHhooOOo!!!
At work and still no LAN connection… damn…
Borrowed a test sim which enables me to get connected to the world.. woohhooooo!!!
Lunch kinda sucked… damn….
Get to go back early!!! woOOHOOoo!!
Tried something called SATA, not bad (something like otak otak, but more spice – pic below).. woohHoOOoo!!

Dinner at their famous seafood restaurant “ANNA”, it sucked big time, not only did they get all our orders wrong, but their ikan bakar tasted horrible! Word of advice, do not take their ikan bakar sambal petai (anything cooked here with petai is really horrible) … damn…

Day 3:

Woke up slightly later cause offices here in Kuantan don’t really start till 9.30 or 10.00!!!... woohooOoo…. I mean damn….

Took an extremely slow drive to office and saw a HORNBILL!!! Yes, a HORNBILL in the town!!! Don’t believe me? Have a look at the picture below!.... wooOHHOoooOo!!

One major regret! I did not bring my 70-200VR lens with me!!! DAMN!!!!!
At my first Bak Kut Teh in Kuantan!! wooOOHHHhooOoo!!!
Bak Kut Teh? More like water kut teh (pic below)… a forgetful event, too “ching”… Damn….

Went for a drive test the guys brought us to this small lil’ road side stall called “Mok Naa”- reasonably price (although not that cheap, their specialty fried kembung is very very fresh and their lekor I would say is quite tasty)… woohooOoo!!!

Get to play futsal (finally an exercise day!) with the guys here in Kuantan… wohhOooo..

However, we received a very disturbing news early on the day, one of our colleague was involved with an horrible accident, but luckily the only major damage was on his car. He’s alright with some bruises here and there, but no major injuries… Damn…..

Day 4:

Woke up to some stupid SMS at 3am in the morning from BP labs blood test promotion crap! How STUPID can these people be, 3AM in the freakin morning!!???... DAMN!!

Can’t sleep the whole night, so just decided to go to the beach at 6am to shoot the sunrise (not really that nice due to the cloud cover, but what the heck….)… woohoOOo!!!

Manage to finish my training one day earlier as planned.. woohoOOoo!!!

Manage to finish watching all the films i brought along! wooOOHOOooOOOo!!!

Movies- all sucked!! I wonder all these critics around how in the world can these movies below be any good at all??? They sucked badly!!!

1) CJ7 – overly hyped ChowSC movie… the only thing good about the movie was the cute “CJ7”, other than that, the movie line, the acting, the framing was extremely BAD!!!

2) In the name of the king- not only it is a attempt to rip off the dungeons and dragon or lord of the rings movie, it did it so badly, I fell asleep 3 times watching it for only 10 minutes!!!! Trust me, its THAT BAD!!!

3) Juno – comedy??? What comedy??? It isn’t even funny!!! Not even the slightest!! Teenage pregnancy- funny? Pedophile- funny? Broken marriage – funny? Me thinks nots!!!!! Completely waste of time and bad influence for anyone watching it!!!

4) Cloverfield – erm… if you easily get car sick, this is not the movie for you, you’ll probably end up vomiting throughout the whole movie!!! Now picture this, its exactly the same like the blair witch project, only this involves lousy acting and bigger monster in Manhattan that’s hell bent on killing everyone and everything, and to add the weirdness of the movie, the monster gave birth to smaller weirder monster and the movie ends with the main characters dying... erm, so actually theres no ending...

5) The only good movie I manage watch is “Transformers”!!! ahahaha!!!

Went for dinner at a restaurant barely a KM away from our hotel called “Planet Seafood”.I think its just a cheap rip off of Planet Hollywood, what do you think? :D – the food however was much better than the better well known “ANNA” anytime! wooOHHOoOOo!!!!

Day 5:

Guess what, we’ve checked out and now sitting in office finishing up this article with no internet connection at all and awaiting for the time when I can go back home and give my dearest missus a big wet one :D
