Now that you've got a SLR so what? Be happy with it and don't play the envy bug game. Trust me, you should what ever you have with you now rather than comparing it with other peoples gear. Glass maybe, but never the camera body.
Every now and then you'll receive some comments on how good the other brands are performing under certain circumstances, and as i said earlier- its never the camera that makes the photo, but the cameraman. Your photo suck, so what? who cares? you're not gonna publish photos in some well known magazine nor get your photo being blown up into billboard size. Chances are, you're gonna use the photo to put in your blogs or just a memory to show it off to your friends or if god willing, your grand children in the future.
here's a typical conversation:
E-3 - huah! i sibeh hoh liau! i got inbuilt IS! my scleen can lotate lotate wan.
50NY - wah megapixel bigger than yours!
E-3 - shaddup la u, u no kotek (lens) to choose from wan, go back and make TV la u
(Mr. 50NY leaves dejected.... then arrived the good friends D3 and M4RK3)
D3 & M4RK3: hah! look at the pathetic Mr E-3, cannot even take proper picture in dark dark place, all see stars when ai ass oh reach more than 800, wanna lan si with poor 50NY. MuahHaHaHa!!!
with e-3 leaving dejected, D3 and M4RK3 starts their bickering:
M4RK3: Huah! i can shoot sport weh! My "L" lens can outdo you ah!
D3: sibeh LCLY ah u? u dun pray pray ah! My ISO go to 24500 still no ploblem, u wanna bully me with ur Full Flame ah? i also got ah!
M4RK3 huah! u think what ah? u kenot even focus on white surface ah, u talk cock ah?
D3: nabeh! you first batch can't even focus ploperly, u wanna LCLY ah?!
blah blah blah blah...
this arguments will never end... a canon shooter will always say canon is the best, while Nikon would always remain that they are the best. And then you'll get those gadget whores that never seems to be happy with what they have and always wants someone else's gear (just avoid these guys, their bad company) - they'll tend to blame heaven and earth on how bad their image actually turns out or how someone else's gear seems to take better photo. How do you detect these guys? easy... their constantly obsessed on the word "megapixel", "100% crop" to check the noise in your photo (what ever ISO that maybe), what is your effective "sweet spot" of a glass, etc etc.... personally, i just hate these guys... just take a damn photo and try to improve yourself rather than blaming the device.
